One of the biggest concerns in seo affiliate niche marketing is how to make a google web page. In other words, affiliates want to know how to add a website on google so that it is indexed in the Search Engine Results Page (SERPs). Since Google has the overwhelming majority search engine traffic, most SEOs alike are mostly concerned about inclusion in Google.

In order to accomplish how to add a website on google, one needs to understand what Google requires in a website. If you are unfamiliar with Search Engine Optimization (SEO), it is a set of complex methods to positioning (designing and coding) a website so that its topics and pages are understood by the search engines. The result of this understanding is listings (or indexing) in the search results for the website’s set of topical keywords.

To put that definition to application, let us say that you want to know how to build a google website for the keyword “buy gold fish”. You see that this keyword gets 5000 searches in a month and is therefore worthy of your attention. Digging further, you notice that the competition is low. Therefore, you realize you hit a gold mine, especially know that this keyword already makes you money. You just now need more traffic to make even more money. (Please note that the traffic count is made up and only for the purposes of this demonstration.)

Therefore, to do that, you need to make your website (or some of its pages) clear that it is about “buy gold fish”. You get content that talks about this keyword and engages the audience in this topic. You naturally syndicate out content for this term so that there are not only internal references to this keyword, but there exists external references with this keyword pointing back to your relevant pages.

If you have accomplished the above in a manner that does not violate Google’s terms and conditions, then you applied good white hat techniques. Your reward will be indexing of those new pages, as well as further relevance in Google’s eyes that your website (or parts of your website) is about “buy gold fish”. Over time, Google will reward your site with traffic from this keyword and variations of it.

The most important take-away is that your website is very topically relevant and provides unique content that has a good user experience. It is not worth trying to skirt around search engine good practices, as it only results in temporary gain and long-term frustration and disappointment. Now, you know make a google web page the proper way.

The recent move by Google’s Panda update to deindex co.cc and its subdomains (*.co.cc) was more than just a technical seo move, whether or not the folks in Silicone Valley even care. The hard truth is, it affected a lot of people’s lives and their livelihood.

Believe it or not, not all co.cc free domain name owners are spammers or have anything to do with black hat or gray hat seo techniques. Some are just regular people taking advantage of a free domain name and even some free hosting. Read this post in the Google webmaster central forum about how a person’s income was wiped out by Google’s single careless act.

http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=25e1ee5071c559b9&hl=en

Has Google gone too far?

Just because they can deindex a site and all of its properties doesn’t mean they should. There is such a thing as humanity, and Google ought to give it a try some time, sooner than later. One of these times will be a time too many; they may face themselves with a lawsuit that may change the game of search engine listings.

The decent thing to do, in my opinion, was for Google to announce ahead of time their intent. Even in light of Matt Cutts’ warning, there should have been with it a warning to the Internet community about such a major and far-reaching move.

“We absolutely do try to be granular, but I wanted to mention that if we see a very large fraction of sites on a specific freehost be spammy or low-quality, we do reserve the right to take action on the freehost as a whole. I think most savvy search/SEO folks would understand this completely, but I figure it’s better to over-communicate than under-communicate.”

from https://plus.google.com/u/0/109412257237874861202/posts/eanXpZKMDSf

The problem is, we do not understand. It was not fair, not to people like Webmaster11 and many people just like him/her. I think if a major brand in a different industry were to do such a thing without communicating to the people (their own customers and partners) they are about to affect, then there would be a major uproar. Why does Google get a pass on this?

Are you one of the victims of the recent co.cc deindexing by the Google Panda Update? Though this is a very tragic event, it does not all have to be lost. If you did what any good webmaster should have done and had any sort of decent tracking or analytics on your site(s), then you can salvage your most important assets from those free domain names – analytics data.

Your analytics, whether you use google analytics, get clicky (getclicky.com) or whatever else, will tell you the traffic keywords. And if you had any campaign metrics added, you will also know which keywords converted into leads or sales.

Once you gather all of this information, you can begin planning your white hat site, one that will stay longer in the SERPs and weather through Google Panda Updates, etc. Because if your black hat co.cc sites were able to rank and get traffic in Google, then certainly your white version can and much more easily, assuming you follow on-page seo techniques.

If you do a site search in Google (site:co.cc), you will notice that all co.cc properties are deindexed. What does this mean for the rest of us? Whether or not we play in the world of black hat methods, are white hat enthusiasts, or identify as somewhere in between (pretty shades of gray), we all have a at least a little bit of concern as to whether our sites could be hit next.

As we are nearing the second half of 2011, we have all been shaken up to a degree over Google’s Panda Updates. While we try and make sense of it and figure out what went wrong, we worry about the health state of our websites. We’d all like to be on that solid path to permanent SERPs listings. The question is, do we have to rethink everything? Is the Internet like life, a series of changes and that nothing stays the same?

Preventing Google Panda Update From Affecting Us Directly

My own personal answer to this dilemma this. Yes, the Internet landscape changes with time, as all things do. However, that is not the end of the story. We absolutely can can take solace in good, solid search engine optimization techniques that stand through any storm that Google algorithms hit us with. How is that possible, you may wonder?

If there is anything that Google leaves transparent, it is their goal and mission to provide search engine listings that serve the customer. This then stems to business and technical aspects. On the business side, Google wants websites to focus on a mix of informational and direct response messages, but all to the benefit of the website visitor. On the technical side, we ought focus on translating the business message in a technical manner (SEO).

Technical SEO and How to SEO a Website

If you have never heard of website silo architecture, then I suggest you read up on it. To make a long story short, it will save your websites. Along with a properly structured website (like a niche website) it needs a clear top-level theme with internal hyperlinked citations. This is also known as internal linking and the proper use of shingles.

Before you even think about building links to your website pages, you need to make sure you website is structured properly, has unique and frequent content (no spun or duplicate content), and has the right amount of internal linking to pass page rank / link juice to your money pages (landing pages). Your sub pages, pages subordinate to your landing pages, serve the purpose of supporting the landing page both in content relevance and keyword anchors.

Soon to follow are more posts on page relevance and keeping your site free from Google Panda Updates. Bookmark this site if you are interested in further information. Yes, soon e will have some user-friendly bells and whistles on this site so that you can subscribe to updates, etc. Please excuse our mess while we fix this site up better. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

This morning I heard the news that co.cc was de-indexed by Google, another one of the effects of the series of Google Panda updates. Sure enough, the domain and all of its thousands of subs were completely wiped from Google’s search results.

For those of you that do not know, co.cc is a free domain name service (rather, free subdomains). Normally, for a small fee, you can register as many sub domains as you want and set their DNS A record to your host or server. This is a tactic used by many black hat SEOs to churn and burn through sites for quick cash.

If one can find unexploited niches, this is a very cheap alternative to registering .infos and .coms. Depending on the free sub company, you can pay as low as 0.10 (ten cents) per subdomain, which in my opinion, one of the cheapest domains around. The return on investment can be incredible at these prices.

So it must be devastating news all over the black hat community right now. Many affiliates are suffering from this loss and will have to hurry and build more sites to make up for the loss in traffic. For those than can withstand these frequent occurrences of mass de-indexing, this is just another day’s work. But for most others, this starts another series of emotional ups and downs. It is the life of a black hatter. If you can take it, more power to you. If you can’t, then let me suggest looking for lighter color alternatives.

Without deviating too much away from the downfall of co.cc, as temporary or permanent as it be, this serves as another real world and current example for building sustainable and long term website assets. Literally, in the blink of an eye, the web properties that were bringing in millions of web visitors to money sites have all disappeared. There is not telling if they will ever come back; it really depends on how well of a backdoor negotiator the owners of co.cc are and if they have good attorneys that specialize in Internet Law.

The biggest takeaway for me is to keep focused on providing unique, quality content to my audience. Of course, there has to be good concentration on fulfilling search engine optimisation requirements for ranking and authority. But at the end of the day, my websites need to provide so much customer value that they can stand on their own, independent of search engine traffic, even. Let us not forget the other worlds of social networks, display advertising, and just plain old fashioned people to people networking and paying forwards.

Niche marketing is not typically something that affiliates get into when they first start out in the affiliate marketing space. First of all, the name is somewhat mysterious and aloof. It is not so self-explanatory. Rather, it seems like more work at the beginning.

And it is true. Niche marketing has its initial challenge of finding niches to build online assets around. Besides that, a niche can be a moving target. Depending on the industry, it is difficult to know what metrics are important to assess whether a small market segment has low enough competition.

Niche marketers look for that sweet spot of low barrier to entry and having a high demand in the form of Online searches. One’s process of finding this is not necessarily another’s. They are as different as each person is unique. If you can develop the resilience to figure out your unique model and system of discovering niches and implementing a sales process, then you have a replicable business model that has a chance of surviving through the ups and downs of Internet Marketing.

Niche marketing is unique in that it can stand the test of time, especially if your systems incorporate evergreen processes that are very customer-focused. If you take the time to really connect with your website visitors and capture their email, for example, so that you can continue that communication, then you have a model that can withstand search engine updates like the more recent Google Panda Update.

Playing by search engine rules is a must. Your web entities must provide value, especially your main site that has the customer sales funnel. We do not encourage any sort of black hat marketing, as those can be more trouble than they are worth. And at the end of they day, most people do not have website assets they can sell. Rather, if they engage in black hat techniques, and their many hundreds of sites get banned by the search engines, then that part of their business is useless. They have to rebuild. This is a very difficult and emotionally draining process.

If you take the time, instead, to do white hat techniques, then you are building your websites to become authority sites with lots of internal and external links. You have something you can sell, if you ever choose to. If you do it right, then you will also have a customer base in the form of an email list.

Two years from now, your website and business will have grown, and you are in a good place. If you did black hat during that time, in two years, you will have not much. You will be in the same place you started. It is ultimately your choice on how much risk you are willing to take. There are definitely successful marketers that use black hat techniques, but they are the except and not the rule. Again, you have to assess the risks you are willing to take.

I run a pretty tight ship here in the SEO firm. We do things a bit differently. We are all on Mac’s and not PC’s, so we make sure to have the best seo software for mac, as well as awesome affiliate marketing tools. This allows our online marketing tools to be compatible with both our operating system and external gadgets (like iphones and ipads). Sometimes, though, there are hiccups along the way that throw off the productivity for a little bit.

For instance, today I turned on my computer, like I do every morning. And as I started opening applications on my Apple iMac computer, I get this popup from 1Password. It’s a password application program that originally ran on a mac but is now able to be run on PC’s. Anyways, this popup asked me if I wanted to update the application.

I normally don’t even bat an eye and just agree to update. But this time, I took the time to read the description of the update. I am not sure what caused me to stop, except that perhaps my subconscious was aware of the current problem I am having with this application. Ever since I updated the Firefox browser to version 5, 1Password all of a sudden became unusable in FF. This was extremely frustrating. However, I was able to come up with an interim solution, which was to use Chrome as my default browser. But, Chrome just isn’t as robust at FF so there are some slight inconveniences with this temporary solution.

I read that the 1Password update included a fix for FF 5. Finally! It was a relief. I think the developers at Agile Solutions were getting a lot of pressure from their user base about it. I had seen a lot of forum threads on this issue, along with the FF developer even chiming in about it. Agile Solutions, makers of 1Password, hinted at not being able to come up with an update anytime soon, since they apparently are too busy with Apple’s Lion update.

But I guess with all of the pressure mounting, they pushed this up in their priority list. Here’s the catch, though. In the update description, it said that if you wanted to use Firefox 5 with 1Password, you will at the same time disable your ability to use 1Password with Safari (if you stay on Leopard and not upgrade to Lion).

They are essentially asking me if I want to get shot or stabbed. Um. Why can’t they give us the backward compatibility option? How difficult would it be to add to their Preferences Pane the options to use FF 5 and/or Safari with Lion or Leopard. In fact, why can’t they read the operating system version we are on and make the changes accordingly? If I am understanding the situation clearly, it seems like a bad case of lazy programming. This is the first time I am disappointed with 1Password.

I will not be updating the 1Password program, since I am still using Leopard and will be for a while. So for now, I will have the slight inconvenience with logging into my SEO software tools on Google’s Chrome. This will never get me to use a PC as my main computer, however. Agile’s suite of products are the first layers to accessing our set of affiliate marketing tools, which are of course essential to niche marketing.

SEO copywriting is not naturally my favorite thing to do. In fact it has taken me about five years to warm up to it, as an affiliate marketer. I’ve avoided it like the plague in so many ways, despised it beyond measure. But now, I’m biting the bullet and embracing this new and necessary stage in my business growth.

I’ve turned the corner

Like so many other affiliates, I’ve come to realize the value and necessity of not only SEO but also unique content creation. I’ve come to accept the fact that providing value to the customer not only includes promoting offers that will benefit their lives, but also providing relevant and valuable information that teaches and engages them. Marketing isn’t just about making money. It’s about serving the people that will eventually become your customer. I serve by proving unique and engaging content on my websites.

Getting here was not easy

I used to think that writing (in this case, copy writing) was a unique skill that I didn’t have naturally. Yes, I could write, and especially when I’m fired up about a topic, I can write like a madman. But to couple the writing with the marketing was barrier that viewed to be too high to enter. Copy writing with SEO in mind was something I could not marry in my mind, first of all. But when you add to that concept another layer, writing unique content with marketing, I felt it was an impossible task to do over and over and over again.

Hidden gems, is how I like to view the least talked about topic in Internet Marketing circles. In the many forums I’ve joined over the years, content writing in the manner mentioned above is almost non-existent. People will bring it up but very quickly and in such a way that didn’t really give priority to it. At the time, I was more relieved than concerned, because I avoided the topic as much as possible anyways. Looking back, I realize I wasn’t ready to accept it as a vital part of my affiliate income.

What changed

Ever heard of the term, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”? Well, that’s how I conducted my affiliate efforts. I would find a method that worked and felt comfortable in doing and stuck with it until I could no longer do it anymore. Some of the show-stoppers I encountered were that the offer expired, the merchant didn’t want my traffic, or the traffic source was no longer profitable.

My affiliate marketing efforts were in no way that sophisticated back then. I tried to keep it as simple as possible and even sometimes as lazy as possible. So when I hit a few brick walls, I had to go in a different direction. One thing, though, that I am not is a quitter. I’ve managed to evolve my business to become more and more long term and withstanding bumps and even outright detours in the road.

The Evolution that Breeds Success

As a result of my ever changing business mindset and systems, I’ve come to finally accept the vital place that unique SEO copywriting has on my Online presence. It has been paying off ever since. Not only in terms of returns but also in organization and efficiency. Unexpectedly, I’ve de-cluttered my days in order to accommodate copywriting. I am more organized. I keep clear and concise documentation on my business processes. I am more aware of all of the moving parts to my business.

Let’s begin by defining the word niche.

What is a niche?
“A niche market is a focused, targetable portion of a market.”, according to about.com [http://sbinfocanada.about.com/cs/marketing/g/nichemarket.htm]. It’s a segment of a market vertical. It is a group of customers with a common interest in a narrow topic.

What is online authority?

Online authority can be viewed in two parts.

On the one part, it is a perception by your audience that a certain source a top expert in their field. Notice how I said, “perception”. An authority figure is not absolute. It’s more of a popularity concept.

Secondly, and as a result of the first definition, Online authority is how search engines such as Google weighs the importance of a website over another.

It’s about how much you know

You could be the most knowledgeable person in your profession and have degrees, certifications, awards to prove it, but unless these things are widely known by your niche market, you have no Online authority.

When it comes down to website traffic and conversions, it’s all about your perception of authority.

It’s about sharing what you do know

How does one gain this authority? The good news is that it is attainable by anyone. The field is leveled. By taking the time to know your niche and it’s audience wants and desires, you simple share this knowlege on your website and sprinkle fair dust on it, and you will be on your way to building your site as an authority site within the vertical segment.

You have traffic, now what?

Once you gain a following, you’ll want to continue engaging your customers and eventually lead them through a sales process. Remember, if they know, like, and trust you, they will most likely want to do business with you.

Below is an overview of action steps you can take to increase your website and branding authority.

Fundamental Action Steps:

Read about your niche regularly
Write about what you read
Sprinkle niche-related keywords throughout your content

Taking things further:

Cite internal pages related to your newly written content
Cite external pages
Get social
Listen to your audience
Find the need within your niche
Fulfill the need through a sales funnel
Convert your audience into leads and sales
